MadhesiMorcha and SanghiyaGathabandhan–two alliances of Madhes-centric parties protesting the constitution–have observed the Constitution Day as ‘black day’ by staging demonstrations in the Capital and other cities on Monday.In Capital, cadres of the alliances gathered at Shanti Vatika and protested the constitution by displaying black flags. They also made a protest tour around the city.Last year on this day, the Constitution of Nepal 2072 was promulgated. Madhesi including Tharu communities had denied acknowledging the constitution soon after its promulgation on September 20, 2015. The agitated sides had staged a nearly six-month long protest including border blockade that crippled the country’s economy. Around 50 people had lost their lives in the agitation.Likewise, the alliances also staged demonstrations at Khotang, Rautahat, Saptari, among other districts.
